At first I was shocked at the Pracey firing but after thinking about his recent track record as well, it does make sense.

People bring up the ROR and Barrie picks, but within 5 years of drafting, if it wasn ta lottery pick since hitting ROR and Barrie in the other rounds, not one of his picks has made an impact on this team yet.

Hishon was a reach, then follow up Pickard (perhaps could have picked those players still in the 2nd and 3rd round) Heard was a mistake, Siemens is coming but still not there yet, Bigras is hopeful but who knows where that leads.

I think the writing was on the wall when he was lobbying for Jones and Roy trumped him to take MacKinnon. Its good to get a fresh new look and its early enough that they have ample time to scout this years draft class appropriatly

Yes still a few diamond in the roughs in the system, but they are probably 2-3 years out until we find out. Just hasn't hit any home runs in the 2nd round, which I think is needed in this day and age. Gotta always been injecting young speedy guys into your bottom 6.

Thats why I like the way Minnys team is built, they have young legs on every line and can burn you bc of that

Yup and inserting one plugger for another next game (guenin for Wilson) isn't going to change anything either. It's like they are begging for a shake up trade, and it's going to end up being someone useful like McGinn in another slow depth leadership player return

When leddy was being shopped he would have been a perfect target. Kulikov would fit with this team going forward.

But yeah its tough, the avs would have to pay a premium to fix that spot and that would just make another hole somewhere else in their Top 9.

As I see it, this roster was built poorly in terms of asset management (over spending on Briere and Stuart) and they locked up too many vets on long term deals that give them 0 room to make adjustments

Stuart, Tanguay, Briere, all NTCs McLeod 4 years left, Talbot 2 years, who wants to take those guys.

Mitchell, McGinn and to an extreme ROR are the tradable pieces to fix the D and there is 0 depth to replace moving one of those guys.

Team will just have to either come together and win some hockey games as they are now since there is probably 0 reinforcements on the way, or its going to be a long losing season
